Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how your information is collected, used, and shared when you install, access, or use our products, software, plugins, and related website services (collectively, the “Services”). As a valued customer, we are committed to protecting your personal information and ensuring your privacy. By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
For privacy questions or requests, email us at hello@thisiswhy.id.
1. Who we are and what this covers
This policy explains what information THIS IS WHY Product (“we”, “us”) handles when you visit our websites (product.thisiswhy.id and thisiswhy.id), contact us, purchase any of our products, or use our WordPress plugins (together, the “Services”).
Our products are TIW Dashboard (free) and TIW Dashboard Pro (paid). As we release new products, they fall under this same policy automatically, and any data practice unique to a product will be described on its product page or in its readme.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information for various purposes to provide, maintain, and improve our Services to you.
Personal Data Provided Directly by You
While using our Services, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). This includes, but is not limited to:
- Account and license details: name, email address, username and preferences when you create an account or activate a license.
- Billing and transaction data: payment details, billing address, tax details and purchase history. These are handled by our merchant of record (see section 4).
- Support conversations: what you send us through a support request or bug report, for example your name, email, license key, site environment details, and any screenshots or videos you attach.
Technical information
- On our websites: like most websites, our hosting keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and visited pages) for security and diagnostics.
- From our plugins: our plugins do not send us anything automatically. Technical environment data (WordPress and PHP versions, site URL, admin email and license key) is transferred to Freemius, Inc. only when you activate a Pro license, or when your WordPress checks for available Pro updates. Our free plugins make no external requests at all.
- From optional local analytics: some Pro features store anonymized visit data in your own website database and never record IP addresses. Today this applies to the insights widgets in TIW Dashboard Pro (see section 6).
3. Use of Information
We use the collected data for various operational, security, and administrative purposes to guarantee a premium product experience:
- To provide, operate, and maintain the core functionalities of our plugins and services.
- To process your financial transactions, manage license subscriptions, and verify product activations.
- To notify you about critical product updates, security patches, technical alerts, and support responses.
- To provide reliable customer care and troubleshoot complex software bugs or environment conflicts.
- To monitor the usage of our website and analyze technical trends to optimize system performance and speed.
- To detect, prevent, and address security threats, unauthorized access, fraud, or software vulnerabilities.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms of service, and protect our intellectual property.
4. What we never do
- We do not sell, rent, trade or lease your personal data to marketing companies.
- We do not receive your post content, your visitors’ personal data, or your on-site analytics. Everything our plugins store for you stays on your own server.
5. Who processes your data
- Freemius, Inc. is our authorized merchant of record for every paid product: checkout, payments, subscriptions, taxes, fulfillment and licensing run through Freemius. When the Freemius checkout opens, it uses cookies that are necessary for order completion, security and fraud prevention.
Please review the Freemius Privacy Policy and Freemius Checkout Cookie Policy before purchasing.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that keep our websites online and maintain encrypted backups.
- Public authorities, only when the law requires it.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our website and securely hold certain information to improve your user experience.
- Session cookies keep you signed in on our websites and expire when you close the browser.
- Preference cookies remember choices like theme or layout.
- Security cookies protect account and checkout forms from fraud, including the Freemius checkout cookies described above.
- Anonymous analytics cookies (certain Pro features): sites that enable the insights widgets in TIW Dashboard Pro set two cookies (
tiwd_vidandtiwd_ses) containing random identifiers only. They carry no personal information, are invisible to us, and their data is pruned automatically after 90 days.
You can tell your browser to refuse cookies, but parts of our websites and the license portal may not work without them.
7. Local analytics inside our plugins (TIW Dashboard Pro)
This section describes the analytics feature of TIW Dashboard Pro. Future products with similar features will follow the same principles, and their pages will say so.
- All analytics and reports are stored privately inside your own website database.
- No personal identity details, tracker codes or IP addresses are collected by this feature. Visitors are counted with a random identifier only.
- Site administrators, feeds and known bots are skipped automatically.
- Tracking data is deleted automatically after 90 days, and the analytics tables are removed entirely when the plugin is uninstalled.
8. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy:
- Account and license data: for as long as your account or license is active, or as needed to deliver updates.
- Financial and transaction records: for the period required by tax and accounting laws.
- Plugin analytics: never leave your server and are pruned after 90 days as described in section 6.
9. Keeping Your Information Safe
The security of your data is our absolute priority. We implement commercial-grade security measures, including SSL/TLS encryption, secure database access tokens, and routine server audits to prevent unauthorized data loss, alteration, or disclosure.
However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
10. Minors Information
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take immediate steps to remove that information from our servers.
11. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your geographical location, you have specific legal rights regarding your personal data under frameworks like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- The Right to Access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data stored on our servers.
- The Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
- The Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data under certain conditions.
- The Right to Object or Restrict Processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your data or ask us to restrict how we use it.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thisiswhy.id or use the contact page. Data tied to a purchase or license can also be managed or deleted through your Freemius customer portal.
12. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. There is no common standard for Do Not Track signals yet, so our websites do not respond to (“DNT”) browser settings. Our plugins’ analytics are anonymous and local by design, regardless of (“DNT”).
13. Privacy Policy Update
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our software features, development workflows, or updated legal regulations. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date at the very top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any modifications. Changes to this Privacy Policy become effective the moment they are published on this website.
14. Your Data Modification & Deletion Process
If you wish to view, modify, or permanently delete the personal data associated with your product licenses, you can seamlessly handle this request through our partner portal. You can log into your personal profile at customers.freemius.com to complete your data modifications or request a complete wipe of your customer profile from the active billing systems.
For anything else, email hello@thisiswhy.id.
15. Contact Us
If you have any remaining questions, compliance inquiries, or concerns regarding the processing of your data within this Privacy Policy, please feel free to reach out to our team here or email us at hello@thisiswhy.id.
